Faustino Bernadett and his wife, Dr. Martha Bernadett, recently participated in a 4-H Spark Recording, where they shared their experiences and insights on the impact of 4-H. Reflecting on their journeys, they discussed the valuable skills they developed, the memorable moments that shaped them, and how 4-H helped them become 'Beyond Ready' for their careers. Their stories serve as an inspiration for young people seeking to find their own spark and pursue their passions with confidence.

Tino Bernadett and his wife, Martha, have always been committed to giving back to their community. Over the years, they've both been actively involved with the National 4-H Council and were honored in 2017 with the 4-H Alumni Medallion. For Faustino, 4-H is more than just an organization, it played a key role in shaping his life as a young person. As a California 4-H alumnus, Dr. Bernadett is proud to support the organization that had such a lasting impact on him. 4-H also appreciates the value of its older members, who have stayed connected to the organization through the years.

About 4-H

4-H is the largest youth development organization in the United States, serving nearly six million young people across the country. As an organization, 4-H is dedicated to empowering youth with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to lead and make a positive impact in the world around them. By focusing on hands-on learning, 4-H equips young people with the tools to succeed in life and in their communities.

For more than 100 years, 4-H has been providing young people the opportunity to develop life skills through a variety of programs and experiences. These programs cover a wide range of topics, including health, science, agriculture, and civic engagement, allowing kids and teens to explore their interests in meaningful ways. The organization’s focus is on learning by doing, providing kids with practical, real-world experiences that teach them to think critically, solve problems, and make informed decisions.

4-H is delivered through Cooperative Extension, a nationwide network of more than 100 public universities. This network offers youth programs in every county and parish in the United States, from urban neighborhoods to suburban schoolyards to rural farming communities. Through in-school and after-school programs, 4-H clubs, and summer camps, children and teens gain valuable life skills, build self-confidence, and learn how to be active, engaged citizens.

One of 4-H’s core beliefs is that every young person has the potential to lead and create positive change. Whether it’s through learning about sustainable farming practices, engaging in community service projects, or exploring new scientific discoveries, 4-H youth are encouraged to take on leadership roles and develop a sense of responsibility. The organization’s programs are designed to foster a positive, supportive environment where young people can thrive, explore their passions, and build connections with mentors and peers.

With a reach that extends into every corner of America, 4-H’s impact is far-reaching and profound. Their network of over 500,000 volunteers and more than 3,000 4-H professionals provide caring mentorship to youth, ensuring they have the guidance they need to grow into responsible and engaged individuals. The organization’s emphasis on inclusion and diversity ensures that every child, regardless of their background or location, has the opportunity to participate and succeed.

4-H’s commitment to helping young people discover their potential and become leaders is what makes the organization so special. By providing youth with the chance to learn, lead, and contribute to their communities, 4-H is shaping the future of America, one young person at a time.
